It's already been done. But only with a proton beam. I think eventually we can go further with the technology, but we will never be able to transport a human being. The brain alone is too complex with all the synaptic firing and everything else going on.

I hope so, but it has to deal with taking matter to another universe, moving it somewhere else, and taking it back to our universe. The matter would go through walls and break buildings if we do it all in one universe.
