No, I really don't think that England can come close to winning in a very long time...
I believe the for-runners are Argentina, Portugal, Brazil, Germany and Spain. I know Spain hasn't done much in World cups but they are a major talent, and those types of showings cannot continue forever....

Since cricket is a game of uncertainties as has been proved on many occasions, it will not be possible to predict the winner of a tournament in advance.
While South Africa are at present hot favourites to win the world cup, their success also cannot be guaranteed. As it stands all the top 8 teams including England stand a chance to win the world cup. The ultimate result will depend upon which team
plays to their potential consistently in the world cup.

Yes, if their key players Peterson, Vaughan and Anderson are fit.
All the 8 teams stand good and equal chance to win the cup.The one team I will choose to bet of the eight teams would be on which the odds are highest, except WI, as no host has ever won.

England hmmm I have to think several times to satisfy myself that they can win.Now seroiusly speaking Inujeries to some main players like waughn,Giles,Anderson,Simons,Trescothic is a major concern for them.all these players are included in the side but dont have enough match practice for the biggest event to just go and peform like super heros.
Now if I have to bet n one team I will bet on S.Africans reason is that they r super fit side they have excellent opening bowlers like pollock and Ntini.Openers Like Smith,Gibbs (AB Devilier showed he's capable) then they have world class all rounder like Kallis then ever trustfull boucher. The only thing they lakes is a good spin bowler.Over all its a very well balanced side and if u look their previous reocrd they came very close to win this event previously first in 1992 but rain stopped their way to the finals against England. Then in 1999 they almost beaten Australia but just felt short of one run.In short I will bet on S.Africa to win this year.
