Advantages
1) the comfort of travelling in your own vehicle surrounded by your own belongings, e.g. drinks, cd player etc
2) You can carry people you like along with you (eg. friends or family) and all have a great time together. The car is exclusive to you and the ones u love.

Disadvantages
1)You gotta fill the thing with petrol and that costs money. Esp. if it is a long distance journey
2)You could have a break down and then you gotta call someone and you might end up travelling by another means of transport anyway.
3)There is more pollution emitted to the environment than if you used public transport.

Advantages 1) improved scientific and technical knowledge--which has historically proven to more than pay for space programs. 2) Weather satellites 3) communications satellites 4) insurance against an asteroid/comet hitting earth--which is not a sci-fi scenario--the last hit was in 1906--fortunately in an uninhabited area of Siberia 5) When--not if--we start orbital manufacturing, it will make our lives better with new medicines, thechnologies, etc. Disadvantages: Its expensive to do the research--but so is any valuable new technology. Other disadvantages: none. An example of the so-called "costs" o fspace travel was posted by anonter answerer: the money could be used to feed starving people. We have plenty of food on earth--if you want poor people to get it, fix the political system, dont blame NASA. Or would this lamebrain like allthose poor people she PRETENDS to care about to do without the weather forcasts that help save lives--and increase crop production? Or the solar panels developed by NASA that are bringing electricity to people in Africa for the first time. Sorry for the rant--but I get sick of the fake "humanitarians" who think whining is a substitute for learning and working to improve things.

Advantage.... stopping when you need to... visiting places on the way... enjoying the trip... go at your own pace if needed.

Disadvantages.... not everyone likes to drive... bad weather can be a hazard... if your vehicle breaks down, sometimes it can be difficult and expensive to get it back running again.

As far as accidents go, you can be in one weather you drive, fly, or take a bus, so didnt include that idea in either side.
Personally, I love to drive, so I enjoy taking trips. I enjoy seeing new things, and taking the time to stop when I want to, instead of being "stuck" on a plane or bus and limited to thier schedules.
Good luck.

the only disadvantage of traveling by car is the fact it takes alot longer and you dont have anyone to wait on you such as a stewardess you can get lost, the advantages of traveling by car are its cheaper, you get to see more scenery and have the advantage of stopping in different cities and areas, dont have to deal with busy airports and worrying about catching a plane you can go at your own speed with no rush...

It takes longer to get where you are going is a disadvantage.
Also, if the car is small, it could be uncomfortable, depending on how many people are in the car.
