my piercing earrings were 14k white gold. the person who pierced them said to use "good" (noncheap) earrings for the first year or so, similar to the piercing ones. i cannot find any white gold earrings and yellow gold looks ugly on me. can i wear sterling silver studs?

thanks.

she said that because some people have allergies to non-gold.
try the studs and see if they cause you any irritation; if they do, cleanse the area with peroxide, smooth some neosporin on your holes, and paint the studs' posts with some clear nail polish (about 2 coats, letting each dry for 10 minutes) then you'll be able to put them back in.
i had that allergy for years and i hate yellow gold, too (it makes your teeth look yellow, i think) but this solution really works! you can wear any cheap earring you want, as long as it has clear nail polish over the post!

It was the similar thing that happened to me. I have very sensitive ears, so after using gold earings for a few months, I tried sterling silver and I wasn't able to wear them, they made my ears all rashy and red and bloody! As soon as that appens, you have to take them off and use polysporen twice a day for about 2 weeks! However, my sister had the same thing, and she used sterling silver, and they were just fine! ;) It depends on the sensitivity of the ear! But remember, your earings do not have to be gold, just the actual .. pointy thing lol that goes in your ear! I have really pretty round studs that are blue made of gold, and I wore those for the first two months of my ears peircing!! ;) You can get good earings at stores like The Bay or Sears for affordable prices! Hope I helped!!! :)

Of course! Just make sure they are Stirling silver- they will be stamped 925. If your holes are still relatively new, be sure to clean the posts with hot, soapy water and/or rubbing alcohol before you use them for the first time or after you have polished the tarnish off of them. (I have also found that a dab of Neosporin ointment on the posts helps tender holes too.)

If for some reason you do react to silver (by react I mean that your earlobes will become itchy and red), remove the offending earrings immediately, clean your holes and put the old, cleaned earrings back in. After a week you can try again but if you have the same reaction, you will have to stick to gold. Good luck!

If you don't have allergies to Sterling silver you can. I just did that myself. I do not like how gold looks on me either. My ears were just pierced 7 weeks ago. So far so good! Make sure you clean them first ( the lobes and the earrings).

Yes you can silver & gold (real ones) or diamonds if you prefer, are perfectly fine. I've been wearing them for a month since I got my ears pierced & they're just fine. Now I can start using regular, affordable ones.

it depends. some people are even alergic to sterling silver. if u don't know where to buy white gold earrings, go to Piercing Pagoda. they give u a solution to clean newly pierced ears and earrings.

You can always give it a shot, its not really going to hurt you if you do, if you notice any redness while wearing the silver studs just take them out immediatly. He said that because some people have an allergic reaction to the metal cheaply made jewlery.

i had the same problem, and i never had any trouble with using sterling silver, white gold can be expensive at times also. i think the only problem would be if you have sensititve skin you might have a slight irritation, but for the most part you should have no problem with them.

yes sterling silver is good enough, its just not good to wear "metal" earrings. also at Claire's alot of their earrings will say "sensitive solution" which mean they are sterling silver, they are slightly more expensive, but from experience its worth it.
