i have some really jealous people in my family.... one aunt in particular likes to ride me about the one thing she thinks is wrong with me.... the fact that I'm not married yet. I'm still in my 20s and went to college and did some travelling, but all my cousin did (same age as me) was marry when she was 18 (pregnant at the time), divorced, then married her boss who is the same age as her father. She now has 2 kids, is married to a man that won't let her work (he wants a house wife to stay home and cook etc... very maschismo).

I would like to be married one day (mostly be in Love), but for now, it's hard to handle comments like... "we'll you have a degree, a good job, all you need now is a man!" or "next time, bring a boyfriend with you" or my favorite "so, when are you going to get married?"

What is wrong with being honest? Why beat around the bush? Just tell them you are not interested at this point and to put a sock in it!

I think she's jealous. You are an intelligent woman or you wouldn't have gotten as far as you have, and you have your head on straight re: how/when to find a man, so I would try to ignore her if you can.

Having said that, I have one female relative who always has something uncomplimentary or unpleasant to say to me too, so I know how that is.

Good luck to you.

I don't need a man to complete me but thank you for your concern. After time after that just ignore and keep the conversation going.

I would respond to this behavior with a lot of good wine.

She's probably jealous of you and has to bring you down to her level.

Just smile sweetly and say "well, we are all entitled to our own opinions, aren't we?"
