I think in legal terms, a "cause of action" is a reason to take some action against a person under law. A "course of action" then night refer to what you do.

Actually my roommates did that while I was away taking care of business for moving. I kicked them out. They didn't seem to understand that drinking my 1978 Bordeaux was a BAD thing. And every single other drop of booze in my house.
