I have a question, I am thinking about buying a lap top to replace the 2 year old system I have now. I love the sound (music) I get out of the desk top. When I purchase a laptop and use it at home for music can I still use my old speakers and subwoofer (sp?) are there places to hook up speakers on a lap top?.....thank you

Laptops usually come with one sound output so if your speakers connect to the pc through only one connector you can use them. If each speaker has its own connector you cannot connect all of them.

Hi. There are usually jacks for external speakers, or at the very least a headphone jack. Double check before you buy.

All laptops must have a headphone jack, I mean, that's like a standard. Since the headphone jack is digital audio, you should be able to split it, and even make it over 7 channel audio. I know my laptop has the ability to, and it's a crappy computer(at least to my standards).

Well at least mine does; you can plug the speaker in where you would plug headphones into usual laptops.

Better to use with a dock station which is designed for additional external devices.
