Hell is supposed to be hot, therefore a cold day in hell means basically "never gonna happen". Like, "It'll be a cold day in hell before I ever bungee jump."

The phrase, "It will be a cold day in hell.....", means that anything after the word 'hell' is never going to happen. Basically, that saying means that The Eagles will never win the Superbowl.

This is an example. Say there is a geeky kid who says,"I'm gonna get laid!" Then someone would say,"it will be a cold day in hell." It means it never will happen. But if he did get laid then hell would freeze over.

It means that day is going to go all wrong. Everything will reverse and catch you by surprise. Just like it will be a hectic day in Heaven. Do you get my meaning? It is like an oxy moron.

it means that it will never happen, because hell is percieved as a hot, fiery place. no one knows what hell is like, i mean we have never been there, we're still living.
