The Democrats did what they do best. Playing both sides of the fence.

All of them were all for the war when it started. Now, all of them are in full retreat because they're scared of what needs to done in Iraq, and afraid to make unpopular decisions.

They want to send a "strong" message to their constituents that they are against the war, but they also want to send an equally "strong" message to their constituents that they fully support our troops.

Isn't it wonderful how weak indecisive they are, and at the same time strong and decisive?

The resolution means nothing, blah, blah, blah. All of them are the biggest waste our elections have ever sent to Washington.

I wish I could get paid for doing nothing but blather.

It's to give the Democrats that voted for these guys a bone. They will not stop the War, they will actually do nothing, but they'll pretend like they're against it for their supporters. Rarely is anything Congress does worth the money.

Half of what elected officials (on either side of the aisle) do has no purpose (like proposing bills to change the state song, or proposing new monuments, or choosing holidays, or running parades, et cetera, et cetera).

There are a lot of private sector initiatives that government gets into, and these tend to be for propaganda (like monument-building; taxes have no business going to this feel-good activity with no actual practical purpose; let various groups fund monuments).

And Congress members in particular are considered part time workers! And the make nearly $200K annually for this lack of actual work.

I personally think you should LOSE some rights for the duration of your stay in elected office, like the right to campaign for the next election. If you are campaigning, you aren't working, and you should be focusing on the term you've ALREADY been elected to. No one is paying you to engage in self-preservation! If you want to keep all your rights, stay in the private sector.

Yes, it is one of the steps necessary to defund the war and bring back our brave solders to where they belong in case of national emergency.
