That is the paradox. Employers want experienced people, but if they don't give people a chance to prove themselves, how can they get any experience? Keep trying, I know it is frustrating, but something will come up. Be persistent, that is the only way you get anywhere in this world.

The biggest sale is yourself. With experience in job placement, I can give you some strong advise- Dress as if you owned the store even to pick up the application. Employers remember you believe me. Use your school counselor (even if you have graduated- they will help you), use your mom's friends but in reference to something you did for them that shows responsibility and follow through. For experience do NOT write NONE on your applications- Use life experiences- and list the place where you got that experience- for example- in school did you ever sell for a committee or club you were in? For the football team or dance tickets? That is life experience- list it and the school under the employer box. Think about all the car wash sales etc. Did you study anything about the product that the places you are applying at sells? Life experience. show it. Employers are generally not afraid to be the first to hire you if A. you present yourself professionally- borrow clothes if you have to B. You show common sense- you do not show up at a restaraunt during meal times and expect someone to talk with you for example. C. your resume looks neat and clean and addresses each question in a POSITIVE manner and D- if you are the rare young one that actually sends back a thank you card for the interview, once you get them. Remember YOU are your own best sales person OR your own worst enemy. Best of luck!

I'd start applying at a store that's not very popular. Like where I live, Shopko isn't very popular and they hired my cousin when she had no experience. Then when you're done at that job, you can apply for the more popular stores and then you can say you've had experience. Good luck!

First, you MUST had enter collage and finished it for a better chance. Then you should apply at a small shop or a corner store as experience. After about a few months of work, then start applying for bigger jobs and work your way up.
