Dress up as an upper level employee would, go to several of your local chambers "greeters" meetings. Be very upbeat and positive, introduce yourself as a re-entering commercial insurance representative (if that is your goal- if not put your goal in there), working odd jobs after corporate closure of your prior employer. Dont elaborate because basicly no one will refer or hire you if you drag your tail around. Have resumes with you and paper and pen to write down the referrals you get.
Also why haven't you gone to the commercial insurance firms in your area with a new resume? What about placement agencies? Hardly any of them charge the applicant any more?
I feel for you as both my Fiance' and I are going through the same thing but really, you are your worst enemy right now- you have to present yourself to the world as the person they would want to recommend for a job or hire themselves. You can and need to be down in private. Be very flexible on earnings- you have been out of the market a long time. Good luck to you.
