The best place I have ever found to look for camping is http://www.exploreminnesota.com You can put in everything that you want the site to have lake, showers, etc and it will show you every place in the state that has what you are looking for. We have found a lot of great places to go.
Minnnesota has a lot of State Parks and many of them have cheaper camping http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/i...

If you aren't restricted to only the USA. Ontario's beautiful Algonquin Park is one of the best. North of Toronto. There are campsites that you'll need to canoe to. A beautiful wilderness.
