Usually, when your vehicle seems like it has no power at all. Can also look under the vehicle, and if you see a glowing red cat, then its bad. Might as well change that sensor too. Probably damaged from melting and such.

No trouble code EVER says you have a bad sensor. You're making the biggest mistake DIYers can make--you're trying to put your own interpretation on what the code actually says. An O2 sensor codes usually says it's reading lean or rich or the heater isn't working. But it MAY be telling you the truth!!!!. If it is telling the truth and you don't fix the root problem, you will waste gas and possibly destroy your catalytic converter ($1,200). Add more information to your post like the EXACT trouble code # (not your interpretation of the code) and we can give you some possible causes.

Do you have a rotten egg smell from the exhaust? When the engine is cold, can you reach under and thump the catalytic converter and hear loose material inside it? After running the vehicle hard, does the converter actually glow? In any of those cases, I would suggest that you go ahead and replace the catalytic converter. As far as the O2 sensor goes, if it has 75,000 miles or more, go ahead and replace it. That will help your fuel economy, and provide you with a little more peace of mind.

Good luck.
