You humble them a little. You think they are being arrogant/egotistical/full of themself, and you do something to make them rethink that attitude.

It describes something or someone as a humble one. I.e. "Even he is from the royal family, he still is a down-to-earth person and is willing to help anyone." By the way, it is "down-to-earth".

It means to lower that person's ego since that person seems to think more of themself than other people think they should.

it means to make them less arrogant. they're too sure of themselves and need to be shown they're not perfect.
