You humble them a little. You think they are being arrogant/egotistical/full of themself, and you do something to make them rethink that attitude.

It describes something or someone as a humble one. I.e. "Even he is from the royal family, he still is a down-to-earth person and is willing to help anyone." By the way, it is "down-to-earth".

it means to make them less arrogant. they're too sure of themselves and need to be shown they're not perfect.
