Yes! Stockholm Syndrome. Some victims come to realize that they are trapped and survival instinct cuts into "overdrive", so to speak. This can occur in abusive families as well, altho' it's not commonly called SS. The victims begin to suppress their rage, fear and resistence, and begin to "like" the abuser/kidnapper. They uncons'ly take on their mannerisms, speech etc., and willingly go with the kidnappers freely into open areas. And often join in anti-social activities with the captor--often aiding them in abuse of others. Patty Hearst is an example! The Symbian Libertation Party kidnapped her in Berkeley; kept her in a small closet for some time; raped her repeatedly; and then, when "safe", they took her to rob a bank with them! Pictures of her holding a rifle of some kind on the tellers was published in the Hearst newspapers. Can't remember the outcome, other than she was rescued.....Don't remember, but she no doubt had to have a lot of therapy and rehab before she ever got back to even CLOSE to normal!
