no more intelligent though having lived for long periods in both countries but not being from either i would make the following generalised observations of interest and I don't care if anyone agrees or not as it's only observation!
-the scottish tended to lack the confidence that the english have
-the english seemed to be rather shallow in comparison to scots, ie less inclined to judge people by looks or designer gear etc.
-the scottish men were definitely more masculine
-the english were initially not as warm and welcoming as the scottish

As an American of Scottish extraction, I want to say yes, but that's probably not true.
Edit: And anyways, it's only a genetic tendency towards smartness if you're related to a Campbell.

I live with three men who are of Scottish heritage. My husband and his two sons. I would not say they are more intelligent.
They are certainly much more thrifty, open-minded, and chauvnistic (at times), but intelligent!?!?!?
Just as intelligent as many other nationalities I have met, but certainly not MORE intelligent.

Yes...genetically Scots, Americans, French and Australians are subject to delusions of grandure. They all boast about thing they never achieved and achieve things that are nothing to boast about.
I can only stand back...clap my hands and admire!
Off you go then?.............what exactly is it that we are supposed to admire?...More than happy to do so!...................
