The Exorcist . Some parts were kind of cheesy but when the girl vomited and her head spun around, I was freaked out. I know a lot of people were scared of this movie, it even was the number one scariest movies on Vh1's top scary videos countdown. My mom said that when she watched the movie, an ambulance was waiting right outside of the theater for people who fainted. The music was also very scary. I know a lot of people say the movie isn't scary, but I think they just don't want to admit it.

each demographic of viewing audience will produce its own "scariest" film ever from "Dr. Caligari's cabinet" to the earliest dracula movies see: nosferatu in the 1920's. the original "phantom of the opera" set the stage for as scary as you could get for a long time, along with dr. jekyll and mr. hyde. in the 30's there was dracula, the mummy, frankenstein, and the invisible man.in the 40's there were wolf men, cat people and zombies. but in the fifties , the horror flicks started showing the imagination that would stay with us today and perhaps land two movies that could be the scariest , in their time , as the scariest. "the thing from another world" and "invasion of the body snatchers" paralleled the cold war paranoia with an on screen threat that
people could relate in a non entertainment value. "the thing" was remade" by john carpenter and "invasion" is currently being re shot with your current favorite Australian actress. it should be out this year. otherwise in a true entertainment sense i would vote for jaws. it truly kept people out of the water. thx

Without question, the scariest movie ever is Bambi! Just picture it.

A little boy, sitting there watching TV. All of a sudden, Smokey the bear comes on TV while you are watching Bambi and tells you that only YOU can prevent forest fires..... only you. Then you are watching Bambi and the forest catches on fire! What the heck are you supposed to do? What CAN you do. NOTHING but just sit there and watch the carnage, totally helpless. Then, Bambi's mom gets her a$$ capped and its your fault because you failed to stop the fire. Sniff, sniff. I can't relive this anymore!!

Need I say more?

You be the judge.

the exorcism of emily rose. I never watched it, but my sister who loves scary movies, saw it in the theater and called my Mom to tell her she would be sleeping with her that night it freaked her out so much. She said it was the scariest movie she's ever seen.

The original Exorcist always creeps me out. When she crawls down the stairs upside down, Ah!
Texas Chainsaw Massacre with Jessica Beal disturbed me for a long time!
The newer The Hills Have Eyes, I couldn't sleep the night I watched that. I hated that movie!
