Some people do not use IM, others only want a select few on their IM list. I just have a few people on my IM list just because that is my choice and all I want. Some permit e-mail, which I do, but I am glad the address is not shown because the spammers will get a hold of that and all I would ever see is junk coming in then (or at least my anti-spam filters would). There are just too many kooks out on the Internet to be leaving one's personal addresses and IM identities open and public. A friend of mine had his IM account hacked and took like forever to get things corrected after that.

My reason is that any time I have, I was spammed so much the e-mail I did want was being told my mail box was full. (for some reason the spam wasnt going to my bulk"
I also had some idiots that were quite abusive and I really don't want to deal with that. Just as easy to "lock my door" than worry about "who can get in".

I use to, but then this virus showed up...
the only new portal I had was YA being able to IM & E me.
Even with a hidden address- it's not hidden to the Internet, just those of us using it.
If you do want to talk to someone, add additional details asking them to get a hold of you. You can turn it on and off.
Be blessed.
