Reptiles are like chickens they can lay eggs without a male they just aren't fertile. Female Iguanas should really be spayed so they don't have to go through the stress of laying eggs. They can also die from being egg bond that's where they can't lay the eggs and they stay inside them. A lot of Iguanas die from this, people just don't know about it.

Don't know much about reptiles. but I do have birds. With birds, females will sometimes lay eggs without a mate. The egg hasn't been fertilized and will never hatch. It's just an empty shell, no baby bird inside. So my best guess is that's the case with your iguana.

Yes they can. Humans also produce eggs with or without a male (menstration) so I often wonder why people are so amazed that lizards and birds do this. I think people think egg=baby and so think that eggs mean they must have mated, they also don't think about women producing eggs but that's what their periods are all about, they produced an egg and the uterus makes a lining to accomodate the egg so it could be fertilized and grow into a fetus.

since you do say your iguana has been near a male in her life check out this website a female CAN store sperm to be used at a later date. and I quote " Female iguanas can save sperm for several years (Frye, 1995), allowing them to fertilize eggs at a much later date. (De Vosjoli, 1992; Frye, 1995)" as can many other reptiles even the beardie. nature has its ways but more than likely they are not furtile and this will be noted by the mold that will begin to grow on the eggs in a relatively short period of time. I will check into the spaying as lizardgirl said hope its not to pricey though.

Science is learning that there are a lot of critters - reptiles and amphibians included that do not need a mate to reproduce. The monitor lizard (the largest of all the lizards) is one that only recently was known to reproduce without a mate.
