1. You need a good product - Not something everyone else around you is trying to sell as well!

2. Know your market! - Research as much as possible beforehand, so you can set your price at the optimum - Too low and you will be either up to your neck with orders, but still not make much profit, or selling so cheap, no-ones buys, thinking they cannot be much good for that price. Set too high and you sell too little of course. Pricing is more important that people realize.

3. Selling is fun, but it's a fast ride! - You will need to keep on the ball, always looking for the next great thing to sell. Once people see you doing well, they will start selling the same thing, but only succeed in driving down the price, so no-one is making much profit. You will need either a constant stream of good new products/services, or a constant stream of things at good prices so you can sell a little cheaper that those around you.
