House and presumedly floor, is 135 yrs old. I have sanded of old varnish to bare Oak. What is best finish to use. Thinking a gloss sheen but am interested in specific brands and products and your experience with using them. Thanks

Go on-line and enter "WOOD MAGAZINE" website. They answer all types of questions like that in their magazine. Good Luck!
I would say some type of polyurethane like "Varathane" or some type of spar varnish like they use on the deck of boats so its waterproof. By the way, "Varathane" is superb but expensive....

Min Wax works best for me. They have a product that has both a stain & polyurthane added, so it's a 1 step process. They offer a dozen different stain colors. I found it best to apply it with a foam brush
Home Depot carries Min Wax products. I just refinished a 50 yr old dining room table & it came out looking new. Give it a try. . .

use minwax with ventilation.one coat let dry 24 hrs,nother coat.(get a bottle of brown or black shoe dye from a chain type food store to darken minwax to suit.test on a loose piece of floorboard to colortest before big job
