No, The platinum is just plated onto the electrode...it is a very thin coating.

of course, but you would have to melt it down and refine the platinum.... I did thought about this like collecting all the used spark plugs and also catalytic converter because it does have platinum too... But then I don't have any knowledge in welding, so I gave up that idea.... So if you know how to weld or something like that sure.... That's my opinion :)
