My husband is also muslim, I trawelled the internet for unusal names, my little boy is called Zaki (meaning pure and chaste) if he had turned out to be a little girl I had decided on Haleena (cant remember the meaning), just type in Muslim baby names in the search bit, comes up with loads of sites and hundreds on names the usual and unusual!

One of my favorites is Aisha, but that's not the reason I'm answering your question. Sorry to barge in, but having read some of the above answers, I have to say some are very inappropriate.
Living in America, it disgusts me to see such hatred towards Muslim society! All Muslims are not bad at all! Why do you succumb to illogical prejudices? Are you saying there are no extremist whites or Indians ( I am an Indian myself) or Chinese or of other racial descent? My uncle is Muslim and he is one of the nicest people I have ever met. Not once have I heard him push "male dominance" over my aunt (who is the closest aunt I have and love dearly).
You, the asker, have asked a simple question, and I see no reason for such radical responses. It is not you nor your people who are at fault. It is these irrational, stubborn, obtuse, thick-minded people who should be blamed for the image and stereotype being projected of your community. They are the cause for the instability and violence!
Don't get me wrong. I know that Islamic culture has its faults. Every culture does. Every single culture. No culture is perfect. Even mine. I mean, the caste system? Every single culture has its flaws but it is our job as a global citizen to accept differences.
'Nuff said.

muslim names tend to be traditional and i'm not sure you can get a modern one. In this day and age, although i'm sad to say it, people stereotype a person based on their name. If it sounds like a religious name they will have to deal with prejudice throughout their life while living in a western society. I hope you can find what you're looking for - personally i like Ameen, it means honesty and i hope my answer has been an honest one. God luck
