I assume you need to simplify the expression, correct?

12(3x + 4x) + 3(12x + 7)

First: eliminate parenthesis --- distribute the outer terms with the terms in parenthesis.

12(3x) + 12(4x) + 3(12x) + 3(7)

36x + 48x + 36x + 21

Sec: combine "like" terms --- combine the coefficients with the "x" variable.

84x + 36x + 21

120x + 21
