to live alone? i don't think it is, and my friends don't think so, but people in my family have been making comments to me like "oh, you poor thing, and aren't you going to have a roommate...?" It's obvious that I'm not since I'm buying a 1 bedroom place. They are kind of old fashioned, and I'm not sure if they are trying to make me feel bad or what?

It is not unusual as far as I am concerned. I have lived alone for most of the last 20 years. I prefer to be alone. I am manic depressive and very picky about my stuff, so I doubt if anyone would put up with me. I also don't think it would be fair to expect them to try. It only bothers me when people ask me if I'm gay and won't admit it or something like that. I'm not, I just vant to be alone.

Living alone is not unusual at all. I've done so for many years of my adult life and enjoyed it thoroughly. No one to answer to, no one to argue with about who does the dishes this week, no one to chase for unpaid rent, no one to fight with for the television remote control.

Just an aside though ... as you are buying a place, consider at least a two-bedroom home or condo (these do far better as resale properties down the road).

they don't know any better and you won't either when you're their ages. we always try to impose our generational values on the next generation and it always causes a problem. you go on girl/boy, and do what makes you feel good/what gives you pleasure-makes you comfortable; whatever blows your hair back. i'm old and i remember my family saying the same to me. they're just trying to protect you the way they would have wanted to be protected at your age - - they just don't know your generation ain't up for that.

to a lot of people it is unusual but don't let other people make you feel bad with what they say....remember it's your choice..not theirs.

I don't think it is..in fact I may do the same thing after college.

No, not at all. I love living alone, you can do what you want, when you want, and not have to worry about anybody else.

No, it's not unusual, in fact it's very normal and it has it's advantages too, like being your own boss!
