I think a jockstrap or cup is to protect a males private parts during a sporting event.

They hold up your cup. If you ever took a hit in the groin you'll know exactly why athletes wear `em. They have no back because nothing needs protecting in the back.

anything u have heard bout the front is probably true but the reason theres no back is for heat reduction.....ive played football for 4 years nd from experience i know every little bit helps. you have to have the cup, gurdle, nd pants nd it gets pretty hot....also if u sweat then all those lairs hold in moisture which rubs u raw and heats u up and makes u that much hotter!!! hope i helped!!

jockstraps are meant to protect your manly parts from getting kicked in and hurt and you don't need to have your butt protected as nobody is gonna kick you in your butt lol
