ive seen so many divorces happen. is it because people have an unrealistic expectation of marriage? imo you should have emotions for the person first: love, trust, respect etc.
where people go wrong is that they marry the person thinking just because they said marriage vows in front of a preacher, the emotions will magically appear.

Yes, I think people have a picture in their head of what marriage should look like and when reality doesn't match the picture they are disappointed and think something is wrong that needs to be fixed. The chemistry and excitement that is there at the beginning fades. The romance is harder to come by because the real world intrudes daily on time and energy and passion. People miss that spark, and perhaps they begin to wonder if they will ever feel it again. But if people live for the momentary excitement, they sacrifice something more valuable, which is finding a friend and a lover to share everything with and spend the rest of their lives with.

That is the thing; people know thatif they get married they have a way out and that is divorce!I agree with Blonde Beauty you should live with someone before marriage to get a feel for it. If people are getting married in hoped that their feelings will change they are being stupid. I know people who have been married 3 times and weren't even married for 6 months before getting divorced. I on the other hand got married when I was 18 and have been happily married for 5 1/2 years

I believe the oldfashion way of thinking is over. You definitly live with someone before you make it final on paper. Committing yourself to each other is something you should do before marriage. You would'nt buy a car with out test driving it first. We try on clothes first before we buy them for god sake. Why go blind into a relationship? Don't let the unrealistic moral order of society push you to do something your not ready for. One out of every 2 end in divorce, look around at all these so called moral people who got married first before they lived together. Unrealistic, you have to live, breath, and love before you seal your love on paper leagally.

You should only marry someone if you love them otherwise what is the point??
Even when you love someone you should (in my eyes) live together for at least a year before you get married because when you live with someone you really see how they are!

no you are right, some people have high expectations of marriage. They get into it and then realize they are never going to feel what they thought they would. Divorce is so easy these days it is common.
