I am an ultrasound technician, specializing in Ob/Gyn. Most women feel movement around 18 wks. However, some women claim to feel it earlier and some much later.
Keep in mind that there are also situations where women deny feeling the baby almost thru the entire pregnancy ---they obviously have issues with the pregnancy and are in denile. And, I've scanned women who swore they could feel and see (on their abdomen) movement but they aren't even pregnant. They aslo have issues. So, what I am saying is the mind is a powerful thing, and though some women actually do feel fluttering very early in the pregnancy, most often women who claim to feel movement in most of the first trimester are not actually feeling movement but their mind is convincing them that they are.

I'm 5 months pregnant and last week was the first time I actually knew it was the baby I felt moving/kicking. From what I've read (this is my first child), around the 4th or 5th month the baby starts to move and you might experience what feels like "butterflies in your tummy". I'm not sure if I felt these or not but I definitely knew last week when I felt a quick bump. I've read some excellent responses from moms across the country on this site so I'm sure there will be more answers to your question that will give you better advice. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

The first time you feel the baby move-it will feel like butterflies in your abdomen, fluttering their wings. That is actually the baby kicking. It can happen in the first trimester to 4 mos. Cngrats on having a baby! Take care.

Anywhere from 16-22 weeks. You may not even realize what you're feeling the first few times. It's really strange. To me, it felt like a bubble kind of moving around my middle. Eventually, it becomes stronger and much more recognizable. When you start to feel it really varies from person to person. Good luck to you!

ummm i'm about 6months now...and i feel her move a lot. it's almost like she's trying to make a statement! LOL! the first time i felt her move i was about 5months and a week....when your baby moves--you'll know. you know the feeling that you get when you rub your tongue on the inside of your cheek? LOL! that's what it feels like--only in your stomach. now my baby is developing patterns, she'll wake me up kicking every morning at 4:30-4:45 because she wants to eat...then after i snack on something, she goes right back to sleep.the worry you have is the same way i felt like, 'dang, shouldn't i be able to feel her moving by now'?and i felt this sense of relief every time i went to the doctor and they let me hear her heartbeat....your motherly instincts are starting to kick in....do you know what you're having yet???

My first son was at like 4 1/2 months and I can't remember my second I just know it was really early in my pregnancy and I was the only one that could feel it for like two weeks. Trust me though you will know it when it happens!

I felt my little girl around 20 weeks. I asked my mother about when I first got prego and she told me that at 4 months she could feel me moving around but my brother she didn't feel until about the 7th month. Just remember all babies are different. Check out this site it's great...I-AM-PREGNANT.COM
