You can widen it bu putting something longer then the shoe or the size you want it to be and then put that thing inside the shoe and then it will stretch out to how big the size of what you put in it.

There are some industrial leather softeners, but it also works if you put some alcohol on a cotton and moist the inner side of the shoe, but you have to wear them while in thick cotton stockings while they are still wet from the alcohol ( so they will take the shape of your feet more easy, and since you will wear them afterwards in thin stockings, widening should be efficiently done in few hours of such a maneuver).

Well if they are leather, it's best to wet them and wear them until they are dry. Will form to your feet...perfect fit.
Or if a cobbler lives near you they have special devices to widen shoes, or even try a shoe store, for one of these.

You can have them stretched or stretch them out yourself. But that's only temporary. Sometime during the day, they will start to hurt again. They you'll have to have them stretched again. and again. Go back to the store and get either a larger size or a wider shoe.

The best answer is simple. Take it to a shoe repair shop and have them stretch it for you. Don't try to do it yourself. It'll only run a few bucks and it'll fit much better.
Good luck!

You use this wooden shoe stretching device. You can buy one at tons of places, but I copied one URL for you here:

They really do work - they've been around for a long time. Good luck.
