The best thing you can do is look for places outside of city centres and big towns.
Kent is a good place to commute to London and if you go for the right place then expect to pay around £350 - £400 for a one bed place and up to £800 for 3 bed.
The Northern areas are relatively cheaper too, and also have good rail links to the major cities.
It will all depend on what you plan to do for work and where you want to be.

Scotland isn't too bad, 2 to 3 bedroomed houses are usually between 350 to 400 a month plus the people are great, lol.

The cheapest place to rent in is South Wales, monthly rents there average about £250 per month - there is however a good reason for this - South Wales is without doubt the biggest toilet on earth.

i'm from the North, Scotland. I basically moved to London, England. London is amazingly South and very expensive.. the added North you bypass the more low priced it receives. the agricultural elements/cities outside 'Northern' cities are the most inexpensive. i imagine you want a city someplace between Leicester and Newcastle, which resources dissimilar ideas.
