The conservatives I admired were people like Barry Goldwater, Eisenhower, Teddy Rosevelt, ( tho its is debatable how conservative he was - Panama Canal and Great White Fleet and all) , and sometimes Pat Buchanan - I look at Bush as a conservative and I just don't see it ! What happened to fiscal responsibility and small government?

OK Cyclops: Do remember what president was taking vacations when the daily briefings were warning about an attack planned on the US?
Sir, this happened on HIS watch.

This is truly ironic, Bush has used the conservatives like a stepson, while creating the exact opposite government that they subscribe to, fiscal irresponsibility, interference in foreign countries, massive bureaucratic boondoggles; it is beyond unbelievable. The conservatives cannot admit their mistake, that is their downfall.

First of all, conservative did not use to mean wire-tapping and liberal never meant to be used in the same sentence with taxes! Today, liberal means more power to the state with loose fiscal policy exchange or the surrender of civil liberties while conservative is meant to describe rights given to the people! The political parties have messed this all up as both are now for big government. The republican party will never again stand for small government and the liberals should see this weakness and attack! The Libertarians are the only thing keeping us from heading down the path of socialism but people are not smart enough to understand the way the world really works, how government inefficiencies are a drain and how economic growth solves most problems! To answer your question, Bush is just another Socialist, he is not fighting for America, he is fighting for his job in Congress just like the rest of the liberals! Say goopdbye to sound government, say hello to the USS..........A? comrade!

Don't make the mistake the Drive By Media makes and assume that Republican equals conservative. It does not. (Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylannia is an example of a liberal Republican, as is, some would say, fmr NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani.) Similarly, one can be a Democrat who is conservative, ala Zell Miller, a fmr Gov of Georgia). Yes, the divide between conservative and liberal does tend to fall between party lines so that most Republicans are conservative and most Democrats are liberal, there are exceptions, most notably in the form of moderates. George W. Bush is a moderate Republican.

I like Bush because he doesn't bend with the polls.

Fiscal responiblity well we had to deal with a new issue 9/11 and Muslim terrorism that cost this nation serval trillions.
With out the war in Iraq we would have a balance buget.

Tell me what conservative values are held by any of the front running democrates.

Well, he has both liberal and conservative policies. Tax cuts are conservative. Giving the US power to wiretap overseas phone calls is liberal. Fighting partial birth abortion is conservative. Suggesting this "Guest worker program" is liberal. So he is a little of both.

He defends our Country, While having to to fend off attacks
from the cowards that infest Congress. We will never Know
how it would have worked out, if the Islamic Cowards had not
attacked us on 9/11. Funny how most Liberals want to sweep
9/11 under the rug and pretend it never happened.
