They are so badly written - no not badly - just insulting to the intelligence with 2 page chapters and a vocabulary limited to about 500 words. Thrillers for Sun readers I think?!

Anyway, he gets others to write the bulk and adds his name...

I have to say that I enjoy Pattersons books because they are just simple entertainment. Although I like a book that really makes you think, sometimes it's welcoming to have a novel that you can just read and enjoy. I don't find it insulting to my intelligence, nor am I a "Sun Reader" thank you very much.

His books are incredibly entertaining, and he gets great publicity. Whether the books are well written or not, he has the selling thing down- he's written both adult and young adult books that are easy reads and belong to series, so you have a lot of them but can read whatever whenever. I just heard a commercial for one of his books! I guess since so many people like them, then they tell others, and both they and those that they tell buy them, and people who buy based on best seller lists buy them, and so on...

Are you sure that he doesn't write all of his own stuff?

His books are a great read. The fact that the chapters are short gives the reader the feeling of really racing through them. The stories are riveting and entertaining. The characters are strong.

Like many successful authors (eg Tom Clancy) he writes in his own name and in collaboration with others.

Don't knock it. If you could do it you would think yourself extremely lucky.

I totally agree with you.Patterson`s books are not worth the money nor are they entertaining enough to borrow from the library. I much prefer a read with more unpredictability. My favorite authors are Brad Meltzer and Joseph Finder. I also buy Harlan Coben, Jeffery Deaver and Jonathan Kellerman.
