Return it and be grateful I found it and not some other idiot who would have spent all the money. Maybe next time when I need the help someone will do something selfless for me.

If that receipt was therein (or any on the same subject) - would hand it in...but if not, it'll be a case of 'Hello Mr. Barclay!' first thing in the morning!
And if, in time it's mentioned on the news, with us being told it was 'meant for the local school/hospital or any other public building' - would draw it back out and send it to the people in question in philanthropist stylee, with a note stating that I 'hope this helps, sir/madam'!

I would take the $30,000 and invest it for them at a casino. After the investment paid off handsomly I would deduct my expenses and mangement fee plus a return fee and give them any that remained. Thats what my 401K people do for me.
No really, I would lean toward returning it but I admit if life had me down so low I coiuldn't see a way out I might be tempted to keep it. God's will you know. ( or is it a test?)

First off, obviously the money is not mine, and if there is a bill then it is clear that the money was withdrawn to make a payment toward the hospital bil, problem solved. In my mind for me to keep it knowing full well who the owner is it would be like theft, irreguardless of wheter or not I knew definately of the owner I would report it.

I would return it once I found the hospital bill but if it was just a random 20 grand then I would keep some of it and hand the rest in, chances are I would be in possession of it once it wasn't claimed right? x

Most towns have a community voluntary service known as CVS ask your local council. They can do a search of charities and help you to apply. The DSS do various types of grants and loans ask them also. Depending on your friends age etc. if he/she has served in the forces or has been married to or is a dependant of someone who has served even for one day a charity called SSAFA may help and would be worth looking up

Return it because it is the right thing to do. I would hope that someone would do the same for me.
