I went two weeks past my due date. Then the doctor did a test to see if my placenta was still healthy. He said it was, but as I was overdue, he wanted to induce. It all depends on the condition of the placenta and the baby. Of course, if the mother starts exhibiting problems, high blood pressure, swelling, anything that may lead the doctor to think she may be developing toxemia, would make the doctor induce also.

Usually its just a case a miscalculation of due dates. I mean how many of us are 100% positive of the actual day we became pregnant? I know some of us are, but most, I don't think so.

If your over a week past your due date they might. It all depends on how the baby is doing but I sure after two weeks they might start talking about inducing labor.

Its probably a case by case thing. I dont think they would go beyond a week though.
My girlfriend just gave birth last week, she was 2 days past. They were planning on inducing if she got up to around 5 days past...(i think they said 5-its still all a blur!)

Two weeks is usually as long as they will let you go but if your overdue..haha....Then your doctor may schedule to induce you at 41 weeks if you ask. I knew I was two weeks futher along then my doctor said and I finally convinced him to induce me at 39 weeks, went in labor the day before I was supposed to be induced and my son was 8ibs. 5oz. so just talk to your doctor and see if 41 weeks would be okay. Good luck

I hear 2 weeks maximum, but i think it depends on how well you are and your doctor.. My friend went a few days over and they said name the day she wants inducing.. Had another friend who had to wait 12 days before they gave her a date.. Different hospitals.. Good luck!! Xx

Most doctor's wont let you past 41 weeks because the placenta starts to lose it's function at that time, and that is dangerous for the baby. However if you are using a midwife they will usually wait until 42 weeks.

In most cases it is two weeks, unless they have reason to believe that sooner would be better. As in you would have a 10 lb baby! You can have them suggest things that might speed labor along, or inquire about stripping your membranes.

i become instructed that being precipitated with drugs has no longer something to do with the possibility of a c-area. however the actuality which you're previous your due date - that has extra effective your threat. yet do no longer difficulty, inducing exertions isn't all that undesirable. i become precipitated with the two one in all my young babies. i become already dilated sufficient that i did no longer desire cervidal (to soften my cervix). I have been given in the present day pitocin. i won't be in a position to assert whether or no longer pitocin makes the contractions harder in view that i've got not got something to study it to. All i will say is that whilst they wreck your water, the contractions harm. Plan on getting an epidural suitable after your water is broken. With my daughter, the epidural did no longer take until eventually after she become born in view that interior an hour of breaking my water; she become born. A tip for procuring better after exertions. upward push up and walk as quickly and as much as you could tolerate. Taking a warm bathe felt super (i do no longer desire to be grimy/gross and the nice and comfortable water comfortable my physique). finally, drink water - lots of water. you will lose the toddler weight speedier and save you hydrated.
