I need to send something from the U.S. to Libya. What other info do i need for the recipients address?

I have asked twice, and this is all they have given me for their address! What else do i need for them to receive the package?

"John Doe, nationality liberian.
Gigarish, Tripoli, libya"

this will not be received by anybody
address is simply lacking any info, you might as well have an address of: Mr smith, London

in Libya the only reliable address is P,O.Box No.
coz street addresses are no good and there is no numbering system yet except for downtown Tripoli or if it is a known company or establishment

your friend must supply a P.O.Box number usually linked to a specific office post
that is if u r sending via mail

otherwise i recommend using a courier service, for that the above info plus a reliable telephone number will do

all major courier services operate in Libya now
FedEx, dhl, ups, TNT, aramex etc.. but boy the prices are really expensive for low weight

the above should be Girgarish.. a posh neighborhood in Tripoli

Street address, house or apartment number, postal code. Here's an example (using the US Liason Office) of a street address and a postal address.

US Liaison Office
Street address: c/o Embassy of Belgium, Tower 4, Dhat al-Emad Towers Complex, 5th Floor, Tripoli, Libya

Postal address: PO Box 91650, Tripoli, Libya

United States Postal Service (USPS) or Post Office:
Mary @ the 800 ASK-USPS stated that you have to check with the receiver because they do not verify addresses. I asked what do we need to ship. She could only tell how much it would cost, but could not help with what info is needed to receive.

Need physical address (street name)
Need phone number if address can't be found

FEDEX 1800-463-3339
Need physical address or at least building name to help locate.
Phone number is a MUST! They can always call them even if the address is off a little.
