The best indian team going for the World Cup after the 1983 Presidential Cup. India has found good openers in Ganguly and Uthappa, with Sehwag in there too. Yuvraj, Dravid, Dhoni and Tendulkar steady the middle order to form one of the best middle order batting. Lower middle order of Kumble, Harbhajan, Zaheer can hit a few runs too.
As on bowling - Zaheer and Sreesanth/Munaf Patel will be opening and are not as bad. Kumble, Harbhajan and Sachin - Sehwag can bowl many spin overs between them. That leaves one guy extra. He can be employed as a strike bowler - Irfan/Sreesanth or Dinesh Kaarthick as the 11th guy. Irfan can bat as well.

It is a very powerful batting line-up, and make take a beating on their bowling lineup.
Quality Fielders are in plenty - Yuvraj, Uthappa, Sachin, Kaarthick. Fielders like Munaf Patel will have to be hided on the field.

There are all winning chances for India. India will reach the semi-finals for sure.

Why not? They have all the bloody talent in the world. They have the best batting line up in the world 'on paper'. Bowlers are fairly good and we have a good bench strength in bowling dept. So, I dont see why we cant win the world cup!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on man, a country with a billion people cannot select a dangerous team of 11 players to win the cup???? Ridiculous.... I still can't believe we got thrashed in the finals of the WC 2003!!!!! Good chance wasted there......

But, I think if they have a positive frame of mind, a fit team of 11 players and sehwag, sachin and pathan set the stage ablaze, then why not??? It's ours this time.... It has to be or else it will be shame for us having three of the world's best batsmen and still not being able to win a world cup!!!!

I'm sure that it's not going to be Australia or South Africa. Now, do you think india has a chance? Personally I think india will do a lot better then their ranking. On a good day india is capable of defeating any team in the world.

nothing will do for indian team ... see the team is mere joke in international cricket ... all the time oldies / exp guys are either out of form or have some aches or spend time recovering

young guys do exceptionall well but that is also an exception so how / who the hell can expect unprofessional performance and performers to bring world cup here .

think one thing if unstable team wins it wud be a big slap on face for other teams.

bye bye

It his highly unpredictable as the Indians perform very good in worst situation and very bad in situation that are very conducive. To quote the loss they have encountered in the recent second test against Srilanka by Just five runs.
But the present team has got the capacity and the line up in batting and bowling are good.
Further we could see the team effort.
Hence the chances are bright to win the world cup.

No way. This team comprises paper tigers who can make centuries on dead indian pitches but fail on bouncy and lively pithces. We should not take pride in beating WI and SL in home series. Suddenly everybody has returned to form on dead indian pitches and we have started dreaming of India winning world cup.
