Its because our bodies have lower levels of androgens, which are the so-called "male" hormones. Although we have them, we have much lower levels, and our bodies are less sensitive to them. Androgens, incidentally, are also why men tend to be able to build more muscle mass, have lower body fat percentages, go bald, and tend to have worse acne.

Evolutionarily, presumably there's less advantage for a woman to have a hairy chest than there is for men. Maybe it's harder for a nursing baby to latch on to a hairy nipple?

Many women do have hairy chests.

Many or even most have at least some moustache growth.

Many women shave their faces every day.

However most women have less testosterone than most men and aren't as hairy as most men.

That doesn't stop some women being hairier than most men

i know some women with hairy chests
i know some with hairy faces as well.

It's the horomones that women have...It's like why women don't have huge hands, or beards.
