Are we foolish to select/elect imperfect people to rule?
Can the laws be changed so that honest people rule?

NOTE: Without horse trading; Without kidnapping the MLAs/MPs, without any bribes etc

It is not that we are selecting or electing imperfects to the top, but in our country there are people of various categories like , elderly people who had their roots of thinking with Congress as that was the first ever party found and they are set with that . Then there is a labour class which takes a major toll of our electorals who are not bothered about who is ruling because they are not affected by anything or anyone who rules.then comes the working class who really know what they should but it is so unfortunate that the system plays havoc to their thinking and hence everything goes topsy turvy.

Too many people fall for the charm (or con depending how you look at it). Too many voters are susceptible to lies and charm. People are generally lazy and don't look at the whole picture. The media has a lot to do with it. The media helps persuade people toward a candidate or against a candidate instead of presenting both candidate's views with equal air and press time. Also, as people, we tend to vote for who we think is going to win. We all want to be on the winning side. The biggest thing is the lack of quality candidates to choose from.

Mandatory monthly drug and mental health tests must be given to every single politician, a vast reduction of representatives with backgrounds as lawyers, and or those that hail from wealthy families, and a total elimination of lobbyists... would be a good start for a clean up...

There are no perfect people to elect or to elect. The corruption you see in government is merely a reflection of the corruption in society.
