I have to tell you up front, I am probably more conservative than anyone you have ever met. I think capital punishment is a farce as we use it. When someone can live on Death Row for 20 years after killing a 5 year old child I just don't consider that justice. I consider justice delayed as justice denied. Life without parole doesn’t really mean it. A gentleman was released in from prison in Southern California after serving 16 years of a life without parole sentence. He was convicted of killing his wife for the life insurance money. The cash was to start a new life with a girlfriend. And occasionally we get a case where I have to scratch my head. A man named Scott Peterson is on death row in California for murdering his wife. The problem is, the body was so badly decomposed that no expert could testify to a cause or manner of death. I would have had trouble convicting him when the People couldn’t prove directly that a crime had been committed. I think the jury upheld the spirit of the law but not the letter.
In my opinion 18 months on Death Row should do it. I believe 30 days to file and 60 days to get the reply is adequate time for an appeal. So with that time frame we arrive at 90 days for State Appeals, 90 days for State Supreme, the same for Federal Appeals and Supreme Court. That would take a year. If all appeals are denied, do the deed.
So having said that, I suppose a direct answer to your question is about due. Yes I do think more crimes should be included. Some might seem very severe but IMO something has to be done. Kidnapping should be included; kidnapping resulting in death should be automatic. Rape should be included; rape resulting in death should be automatic. Anytime a Life without Parole sentence is appropriate, they can go to death row.
The jury should have the death sentence available: for child molesters, three time losers, habitual drunk drivers (especially when it has resulted in injuries or death), drug trafficking, and probably some things I haven't thought of yet. Additionally, anytime a death sentence is deliberated all prior bad deeds should be available so the jury can form a clear picture of the convicted person.
It may sound harsh, and indeed it is but I have never been accused if being a "touchy feely" guy. I look at these people as dangerous; to you, to me, to my family and to society in general. They are essentially the shallow end of the gene pool. I think as a part of an society they simply aren't needed.
I apologize, this was long and a bit protracted but the subject of the death penalty is, I am sure you would concede, complex. I feel like I have vented, thank you for the opportunity.
Have a good day.

How about attempted murder? Murderers are failures at what they are doing and then they are rewarded by not being put to death.

at the same time as i grow to be youthful (20ish) i grow to be requested an similar question and that i grow to be vehemently hostile to the demise penalty, because i presumed that if one harmless individual grow to be hanged it grow to be too a lot. I actually have had yet another 30+ years in this earth considering then. I actually have seen and heard such poor issues that take position to children, Jamie Bulger 14 years in the past grow to be an similar age as my Grandson and that i cried for weeks for that poor kinfolk. i understand the killers were children themselves and we've all heard of their undesirable upbringings yet i ought to admit that at that aspect in time i ought to in trouble-free terms imagine 'what if it were my grandson' i'd have taken their lives with my personal fingers. Any of those ghastly crimes hostile to children, including paedophiles (who do no longer imagine they are doing some thing incorrect and can't be cured and could in trouble-free terms proceed to abuse children on their launch) certain i'd vote for the demise penalty. detention center is meant to be a fashion to rehabilitate the criminal/criminal. you are able to not rehabilitate those people, hence they have now no longer an area in our society. this will also help in route of sorting the problem of detention center overcrowding. i'm no longer naive i understand that maximum criminals reoffend once released yet there are some who would properly be rehabilitated and hence it is wisely worth attempting with them. anybody who has raped, murdered or harmed children who on launch, would stay a threat to harmless shouldn't in any respect receive that threat. They launch those people on a daily basis understanding that they are going to reoffend. they are meant to keep a examine on them, that would not end them killing. Their probation officials can not deal with their workload, they do no longer understand the position they are or what they are doing. They disappear from their handle in trouble-free terms to proceed to prey on harmless people. in the adventure that they proceed to refuse to reinstate capital punishment for those people they ought to not in any respect be allowed parole and stay locked up for some thing else of their lives. it isn't only the lives of the persons/children they kill they regularly finally end up killing the households, no longer in trouble-free terms breaking them up yet different actually (through suicide). I nonetheless realize that reinstatement of the demise penalty can advise an harmless individual would die, yet what number harmless people have died through letting those monster out to kill again.
