If love is something we feel, it would appear that love comes from within and so I wonder why or brain might create the desire to feel loved by others. Is love just something we create with our hormones as a need to multipy? Is it a partnership we create as a need to have someone to help with progress and inner reflection? Do we really need companionship, and why?

Love.....

======General======
That's millions of definition question....
Depending on our independent needs, love is different.

For me, Love is a feeling that I want from someone.
Others, it can be... just a interest in an activity, a obesity in something.

======My Answer=======
Love...
It's not alwasys Joy, as Jyoti D explains it...
Love can be painful. Like you may love someone, but you can't have them. And it may not be painful between the too... but it can be painful from maybe like seperation from parents because they don't want you to marry that person...

Love...
I agree with tokenwhtgrl, it comes naturally...
We can't stop it... If you like someone, it just turns to love....

Love...
I feel love as a deep feeling that no one can explain, not even a person that has been through lots of love tradgeys.
Love kinda is one of those feelings that you can't promise. It's those type of tricky areas we all go through. That's why we have those... like millions of... divorce files..
People just don't know what love is..and thats why i gave you a star. It's a question that everyone needs to ask themselves.
And then...love also wraps around like earth. There's millions of random events coming and going...unpredictable..
There maybe a time were there's seperation from accidents like car accidents, memory loss.

There's millions of answers. If i sent an email to everyone on earth, all answers would be different.

But! There is one great answer...
Love...is the opposite of hate.

Lovers call it by many different names, its defined differently and uniquely by each and every person. Matrimonial ceremonies claim that love is not jealous or boastful. Love is not a gourmet dish, a domesticated animal, or a latest trend. Love is not a strategic defense mechanism nor the best kept secret at the Pentagon. Love is not a seasoning to bottle and stick on the dust lined shelves of the spice rack. Love is not to be confused with adhesive tape.

Instead, love is a great counterpart to late evening thunderstorms on hot July nights. Love goes well with cold pizza on picnic blankets. Love is cold, wet sand between bare toes. Love is a capitalistic sell-all for novels, top 40 pop songs, summer movies and greeting cards.

In its simplest terms, love is a four letter word. Much like other words of similar letter make up, when expressed it can evoke pleasure, desire, tenderness, laughter, pain, and anger. Love is food for a happy mind. It is kindness, devotion, or affection to another. Love is the most wonderful experience in the world, yet it can hurt you more than anything, physical pain hurts less. Love is sacrifice. Love is quite good if shared between two with trust and understanding, and at the same time dangerous.

Love is so hard to define because its felt, expressed, and viewed differently by each and every person. We all come to know love over time though, the good and the bad side, one way or another.

According to the dictionary, love is a strong liking for someone. If you would ask me, I would not be able to define it. It is an expression beyond all words. It is a feeling where you give unconditionally without being judgemental.

Love is .....

when you leave early from work to pick up your child from school as a surprise

when you tell your spouse you love him/her every morning even though his/her loud snoring disturbed you in the night

Love makes us patient, kind, generous, forgiving, hopeful etc etc....all the positive attributes you can think of.

And yes we do need it because unless we are loved, we will not know how to love. Wouldn't this world be a better place if we all understood the meaning of love?

In the words of Rabindranath Tagore...'Love is an endless mystery, for it has nothing else to explain it'. How profound is that!

so, spread some love!!

i really find it hard to beleive that love can be confined to words. however, yes we do need it... people everywhere strive for it constantly and when they don't get it they try to replace the emptyness with things like work or sex or addictions... it's a necessity, too. like food and water. there was a study done on babies in which they left the babies in a room and gave them all the comforts possible without allowing them any human contact. they fed them and left toys, etc. but never hugged them or showed affection. the babies didn't live long, i can't remeber how long it was, but it was less than 2 weeks. (note: i assume due to the nature of the study that it was not done in the US). people NEED love and affection. i can't say why, but we do.

well i think that we have the primal urge (if u will) to reproduce and that just comes naturally....but also i believe we have a need for companionship-someone to lean on during lifes long and sometimes cruel journey.for some reason itsjust "programed" in the human mind-and in animals at that-to find a partner to find "love" connection with another human being.

Yes we do need love in life. It is almost as important as air for life. That is the only thing which makes us go on and on in this world. When u r in love u r not lonely. To love and be loved is the only thing which gives a human being utmost joy and bliss

My perception of love is too lengthy really to condense.

I love my dog, I love my neighbor, I love potato chips. I love my friend I'm seeing.

I love my mother, father, daughter, son etc. There are many
facets to the word 'love'. Choose them as you will.

Companionship is another story, Yes, we all need that in one form or another. Even if we just speak to a clerk in a store.
Have a bird to care for at home.

You stated a very good question that actually has many, many answers.

Hope you find what you are looking for.

You are trying to rationalize love. Just like you need eyes to see, ears toi hear, nerves to feel, tongue to taste, you need love to feel. Imagine yourself without love in your heart. You won't be able to feel the emotions, the compassion, the depth of relationships (be it mother, father, brothers, sisters, friends, wife, lover, or enemies).

We are all made developed with some flaws within ourselves. Practically incomlete in spirtual levels. We require companionship so taht we can fill in the gap. Our parents do it for us, they take care of our weak points; our siblings and friends do it for us, they highlight our weak points, our wives/lovers do it for us, they take care of intimate things that we cannot share with others.

Love is not a requirement, it's a step towards self-identfication and self-development...

:-)
