He has redefined the position. I have seen Montana, Marino, Elway, Steve Young, Bradshaw, Unitas, ALL the greats but none of these comes even close to Peyton Manning, there is NO comparison. Manning is the Michael Jordan of the QB position. Some used to say he must win a Super Bowl....GONE is that BS. Even if he didn't win a SB, what does that say for O.J. Simmson, Earl Cambell, Simms etc...hell even Marino never won a SB, yet many believe he was one of the BEST ever QB's.
1. Manning
2. Montana
3. Maino
Top (3)...the "M's" have it!
What say you???

Thats something I think a lot of people forget Marino never won a SB. Hell even the media forgot it when trying to decide the best QB ever. I do think Manning is on his way to being the best ever there is no doubt. He studys hard and plays hard. He has brought a lot of interest to the NFL.

Not quite yet, he only has one ring and hes been in the league for 9 years
thats not exactly a great percentage...
Im not saying that you need to win tons of super bowls to be the best QB (ie Dan Marino) but you should at least have a couple.
Records need to be set. Manning already has the Single Season TD record, thats a good start.
As of now, I dont think Manning is in the Top Ten, much less the top 3. I say this not out of dislike, but out of respect for other QBs. Its not that Manning is worse, these guys are simply better.
1.) Bradshaw
2.) Marino
3.) Montanta
4.) Elway
5.) Farve
6.) Young
7.) Unitas
8.) Staubach
9.) Theisman
10.) Unfortunately Brady
Manning is close though, easily top 15. But dont forget that the most memorable thing about manning right now is his Laser Rocket arm.
And the fans dont say boo they are saying MOOOOOVVERRs.

nope, after playing the league 9 years Joe had 3 rings, and didnt play some fumble fingered green quarterback to get them(he beat Marino the year he threw for two tons of touchdowns, he set a record demolishing Elways broncos), he never threw an interception in 4 super bowls in 122 attempts and made the 9ers the winningest team in the league for the years he started, he led teams in the AFC and NFC to conference title games...that and hall of fame qbs like Marino, Bradshaw, and Aikman have acknowledged in broadcasts that he was the best...lets see Peytons trophy case in about 5 years...

He hasn't played long enough to really go into the greatest of all time category. And, picking the greatest of all time is a very hard question to answer anyways. What do you look at. Winning %age, SB wins, passer rating over a career? Marino has the records, but no SB win. Montana has the SB wins, and a great passer rating. Favre has one of the most impressive streaks in sports period going. So, you're having to compare apples to oranges to bananas to strawberries.

Here we go again, trying to tell who is the best "ever".
You say Manning is the Michael Jordan of football.
Ok, but you have to look at the teams, who played with them, and what system they were in.
Manning puts up great numbers because of the offensive system he is in, combines with a great corps of receivers and a solid offensive line, much like Jordan excelled in the triangle offense with the Bulls.
There is no doubt that Manning is a great QB, but if he and his brother switched, you wouldn't see the huge numbers like you see him put up in Indianapolis.
A perfect example is Edgerrin James.
He was awsome in the Indianapolis system, but when taken out of that system, he was extremely average.
You can look at all the different offensive systems of Montana, Marino, Griese, .... etc.
Their abilities are part of it, but who they play with is what made them great.
And by the way, great QBs don't win super bowls,
GREAT TEAMS DO.

Sorry, but I don't agree. He may be able to play his position with exceptional talent, but his attitude is bad. He is not a team motivator and is not a good leader, like a QB should be. All he does is whine, complain, and yell at his teammates. Did you happen to catch when he yelled at his running back because he only got 7 of the 15 yards they needed to get a first down during the Super Bowl? Real sportsmanlike. The guy is a crybaby and I personally can't stand him. I would have much rather seen Rex Grossman win that game, eventhough he is much less talented than Manning.

No, he isnt the best ever yet, but he is on the verge... dont forget about Brady. If you are gonna compare any qb to Jordan it would have to be Brady as far as winning. Peyton this past year also had far more superior weapons around him then Brady did, and the colts almost(really shouldve lost the game-Caldwell). So while I do believe Manning can be placed in the top tier of great qb's I think he will be challenged his entire career by that of his rival Tom Brady

I still say Montana was the best ever. "The Pass" against the Cowgirls in the NFC Championship back in the early 80's defined what he could do. It was a thing of beauty. That pass was put exactly where it needed to be. Manning is a hell of a QB, but I don't think he has the gentle touch that Montana had. A name you did leave out of that list you gave is Brett Favre. He's had a couple of un-Favre like years, but he deserves to be mentioned with the greats.

I dont think Manning is the best QB ever, he is one of them but you cant really compare guys like Unitas, Bradshaw, and Montana to guys that play to day because the game is so different. Manning is the best of his generation. I am not even gonna give a list because you cant compare them.
