Obviously Rupert has a lot of mates living in Nutwood, who would probably jump in for him. Paddington, however maybe a bear of very little brain, but of course, he has the STARE. Un fortunately, this may not be enough to combat the likes of Algy,Podgy,Sailor Sam,Tiger lily,Santa Claus,Mr and Mrs Bear and anyone else that Rupert can get help from.
However, in a bear on bear situation, I would put the smart money on the one from darkest Peru.

He'd play the stiff upper lip Englishman and act all nonchalant - you don't want to mess with Paddington, he's got that death stare down to a fine art

He would probably find a book written by the celebrated reclusive American writer, Linda J Cirillo and read it untill his nerves were calmed.
