Professional wrestling is staged, not fake. Fake is definately the wrong term to use.
Many punches and chops are pulled, however, if you listen very closely, you will hear the fists and open hands actually strike. Sometimes, you can tell when they pull a punch, chop or kick by watching how it lands on its intended target.
And when it comes to "foreign objects" like chairs, tables -- they are actually getting hit or going through them. The tables they use are not cut and glued back together like people who have no clue what they are talkng about say. The tables are made of a material that can only withstand 200 lbs., and when a body is being thrown into the table, the velocity makes them heavier.
I have a friend who wrestles in Florida, and he says this to people who call professional wrestling totally fake -- find a wrestling school in your area to get properly trained, you will be so sore at the end of the first day that chances are high that you will not go back again with that mindset of yours.
The reason people say it's fake is because there are many hits obviously are pulled and the talent play characters. They also have storylines they perform in and out of the ring.
"Is pro wrestling fake? Of course it is. It is as fake as your imagination." -- Steve Allen, narrator of the documentary "The Unreal Story of Professional Wrestling"

lmao these answers are funny as hell. the majority of wrestling is REAL!.. i've been to pro wrestling training so dont listen to these people. the chairs, real. the blood, real. the punches, kicks and stuff like that are fake. workers (wrestlers) have to "sell" the moves to make it look real. just because something is on ppv doesnt make it "real" (look at jerry springer). if you pay really close attention to the kicks.. lets say..shawn michaels superkick.. when he kicks, he smacks his leg to give it the effect of actually kicking somebody. the "chops" hurt like a btch! the ring isnt cushion like everybody seems to think. it is very hard, especially the indy rings. believe it or not, the ropes even hurt.
i thought i was done but i guess not. back up to Julie C's response. Just because all you see is on tv doesnt mean thats the only time they wrestle. professional wrestlers are on the road about 360 days/year.

Yes wrestling is fake, because if you think of it logically how can 2-30 fight live or taped everyday of the week. They can't. If they could more wrestlers would be dead by now, because of the loss of blood. I am just telling you the truth.

No, not all of it is fake. Yes, they do plan out storylines and some of them practice their matches so they know what to do. Sometimes they plan out certain spots in some of the matches. But if all of it was fake then people would not get hurt. Yes, sometimes they play an injury angle to make it look like someone gets hurt, but people can actually get hurt. So no it is not all fake.

Nope. Those guys are superhumans. They can get the crap beat out of each other one night in Miami, jump on a plane and do it again the next night in Orlando. But boxers can only fight 2 ro 3 times a year. Think about it. Be real.

Yes, but some parts, rarely, can be real. The punches are the most fake.
