In school, we are having a contest for movies. Students can write, direct, or act in a movie with their peers. The only problem is, I don't know how to set up a movie script. Like, how do you set up what the characters are saying? Could you also recommend any websites or books on script writing?

The easiest and cheapest way is to go on word and make a table. make sure all the outlines of the table is invisible and then select the bit where the characters name is going to be and make it bold. This is how you set up a script

JOHN DOE: Hello, can I intrest you in...
JANE SMITH: Go away old man
JOHN DOE: (cowering away, pause, whispers) You'll regret that!

Go to Drew's script-o-rama and download any script. That will
give you the format. The website is:

http://www.script-o-rama.com/

Another site would be the American Zoetrope sight. They have
classes for free on how to format a script.

Hope this helps.
