I'm consulting my little pregnancy guide on what to do when faced with certain ailments. It says you can take saline nasal drops. But you really should ask a physician about wich over the counter cold medecines are safe. Motrin is NOT a recommended pain releiver for pregnant women, Tylenol is though.

Yes you can gargle with salt water, and use saline drops/spray for your nose. Saline drops (salt water) are perfectly safe for everyone and may help treat and prevent infections.
You can also drink a warm"tea" of honey and lemon. Or real tea if you want. Just limit it to less than 3 cups. Peppermint tea is also safe.
Personally I like a "tea" of garlic and ginger -simmer for about 30 min then I toss in some cilantro for flavour as I take it off the heat. You can sweeten it with honey which supposed to be good for your immune system. Also a dash of cayenne is also good for sore throats. Yes I know spicey sounds like the last thing you want but it works.
Now, some people are likely to tell you you can't have honey because you can't give honey to infants. You can't give honey (or corn syrup) to babies under 1 year because their intestines can not yet kill botulism spores. So unless you are using your unborn babies intestines instead of your own you can consume honey. Your intestines are perfectly capable of killing of the infection. And the botulism that causes infant botulims is completely different than the strain that causes adult botulism, which of course is a serious problem.
Hope you feel better soon.

I'm in agreement on the honey and lemon in some hot tea for the sore throat. You can take Tylenol (acetaminophen) to help as well. For the stuffy nose, seriously, eat something super spicy, like wasabi. Your sinus will clear up instantly. But also remember that a stuffy nose is part of being pregnant. All of your mucus membranes are swelling and producing more stuff because of the little lizard (hey, that's what it still looks like at that age!) inside of you!

salt water is safe. Cold medications are not. Besides they only serve to prolong the life of the cold, and often result in infection and broncial issues as the infected mucus isnt purged from the system by runny noses or coughs.
Use some regular saline nasal spray, it will flush the cold right out of you in a couple days, much quicker than anything else. Blow your nose, squirt the saline solution in your nose until it just starts to run down your throat, and then blow your nose again. Atleast twice a day. I promise it'll be a TON better in just 24 hours.

Make sure the OTC cold med you are taking is safe for the baby. Steam or cool mist helps. Yes, warm salt water should be fine.

PLEASE try these 3 remedies...EVERY time I feel run-down or get that tickly feeling in my throat I take these 3 things and it NEVER turns into a full-blown cold.
1)Herb Pharm Olive Leaf Extract in tincture form:
This is the one I buy -
http://www.nextag.com/Herb-Pharm-Olive-Leaf-66659849/prices-html
2) "JarrowDophilus", by "Jarrow Formulas"...it will keep the healthy "flora" in your body in perfect balance which keeps your immune system strong.
3) "Emergen-C" Vitamin C packets by "Alacer"
All three can be purchased at "Whole Foods Market", possibly "Trader Joe's", or call your local health food store to inquire about these 3 products.
EVERY friend and family member who has taken this advice, hardly ever gets sick.
For your throat: "Peaceful Mountain--Throat Rescue"
You will NEVER find a more powerful throat spray which is all-natural....soothing, fast acting, and kills bad bacteria on contact.
Cayenne Pepper in capsules (or sprinkled on soup) helps greatly with congestion AND is also an immune systen booster too....and drink lots of organic green tea to help your energy levels.
You'll see!! :) Get well soon!

I am currently 22 wks pregnant. I have been suffering from "a common cold"; at least I thought. I went to my PCP and she told me it was a sinus infection and allergies. I am on Sudafed for nasal congestion and Singular for allergies. ALL VERY SAFE for my baby and me. I was handed a list of OTC medicines and I feel SO much better.
If you dont get better, your baby wont get better either. Visit your primary care physician!!!
Good luck :)

for your sore throat I would try some warm hot tea. Or try using vapor rub or if you don't want to put that on they also have one for the room it might also help you relax at night.
