I've recently been thinking about giving up TV forever. Does anyone have any opinions?

Don't give it up. TV is a staple of our culture and a way for us to conduct small talk. I believed for years what they, university professors, said about TV. That it was for pea brains. Now that I am older, and hopefully wiser, I now consider TV a good social lubricant. At work, one talks about American Idol or CSI to make small talk. And don't underestimate the value of small talk, friendly chattering.

You don't really need television when you have the Internet, so it's really a matter of personal preference. We don't watch very much TV & use the TV mainly for watching dvd's we rent.

I watch more tv now than I have in my entire life. And it is good. I never ever ever ever watch the three major networks because sitcoms are never ever ever funny. Lots of good stuff on the history and discovery channels amazing stuff. I love it.

It's your choice. If you don't enjoy it, why watch? However I wouldn't say "forever". You might want to watch something later on.
