He might make it more interesting for the casual listener, but he won't be able to make any kids go in the backyard and dream they are David Beckham scoring in the World Cup finals. American Football, Basketball, and Baseball are too big and pay more money than Soccer, and kids today are influenced too much by money. But I think it will be fun having David in the USA.

He'll generate short term interest but unfortunately nothing can make soccer big in this country. As long as the uberstars continue to play over seas for big bucks they'll never migrate to this country until they are, like Beckham, at the end of their careers.

I really hope so because i am a BIG soccer fan and would love it become as big as the superbowl,I have never cared about american football or baseball but those are the most popular.

it does not take one person to make soccer in the US big. If they really want to make soccer big they should try and bring more big names here (but they will not be very likely to come).Sure he will boost ratings. But thats all that will happen.
