Suggestions for Hydraulics projects?

I am tutoring these kids that have to do a project on Hydraulics and Pneumatics

Any Suggestions for projects that can be done easily involving 2 syringes and a pipe for a closed circuit?
(Grade 6 Level)

Maybe you could demonstrate the use of a jack in search & rescue work. Use a baloon to simulate the jack. (Or maybe use two "jacks".) Expand the balloon with air or fluid from the syringes to raise "building debris" a short distance to extract a victim.
