i really need help on this one. i met this guy on myspace and he lives a few towns over from where i live, hes my age and in my grade and all that. i do know that he is a real person, one of my really good friends casey goes to his school and is friends with him, we've been talking online and through texting for almost a year (8 months). i really like this guy but my friends always make fun of me for talking to him and say im going to get raped. what should i do?!

Your friends have a right to be worried. A lot of people act like poeple there not on the i-net. If you really want to meet him. Try going for a public place and bring a friend. Make sure people know where you are going to be and when. If he turns out to be someone he is not make sure you have a cell phone and an easy and safe way to get home. Your best bet is to try o find someone at your own school.

it sounds like you know this guy pretty well, but as some other people have mentioned, you can never really know someone just through the internet and texting. the best thing to do, if youre ready to meet him, would be to arrange a meeting in a public place where you're sure there will be a lot of people, in broad daylight, e.g. a popular coffee shop or shopping centre, and its probably a good idea to make it a "group date" the first time - bring some of your friends and get him to bring some of his. that way you can be as safe as possible and still get a chance to prove your friends wrong! but whatever you do, be safe, and don't take any risks!

I think you should stay away from getting to know this guy. For one he lives a few towns away from you...so really..You don't KNOW him other than texting and talking online.
Find someone that is in your own town that you actually KNOW in person and can see who they hang around with etc...
Getting involved with someone through texting/online..is not really knowing them. Be careful* and find someone you can see on a daily basis.

Why haven't you met yet? Invite him over some weekend for a movie or something with friends...that way you can see if there is a spark in person...sometimes online you prject feelings that aren't there when you really meet soemone face to face.

sometimes to like a boy is just a not enough. I usto talk to boys for months at a time on aim or myspace, but u never really know who you are really talking to cause everyone lies, and it can be dangerous, but if your friend knows him and is telling you that he is bad news, that listen to her, and either find out for yourself or find someone else that makes your heart race
