She's off the reservation. It looks to me like she's hooked on prescription drugs, ala Anna Nicole. I just don't understand where her family and "people" are to reign her in.

I can think of two possibilities right now.

The first is the dye job completely ruined her hair and she decided to shave it all off and start over. It's been known to happen to many people.

The second is the possibility that she did not want to keep the evidence of substance abuse. As hair grows, it keeps a record of the chemicals that were present in the body. Hair is used quite commonly in drug testing. Now that her ENTIRE body is shaved, that line of testing is eliminated.

If she gets into a custody dispute with ex, then the drug abuse thing will be harder to prove.

Just a couple of thoughts.

I read an article in the Mail on Sunday today all about it. She said she was fed up with people "bolting things onto her" and she didn't want anyone touching her anymore. Apparently she was in tears before going into the salon then shaved it herself. Then she went to a tattoo parlour and had 2 done!

Well, it's hardly the end of the world, eh? Perhaps many "fans" believe that their "idols", merely because they are rich and famous, are automatically intelligent, sensible and wise, as well. Hardly the case, quite frequently. Often what it takes to get to the top in this culture are traits and behaviors, and personality "quirks", which are indicative of quite the opposite "way of being". In a culture which applauds greed and ruthlessness "enlightened" behavior is the exception, not the rule :-)))

Publicity. She needs publicity for her career to survive. Remember Dennis Rodman, basketball player for Detroit and Chicago, who dyed his hair for national TV and dated starlets like Carmen Electra. He did his wacky antics for the same reason as Spears she needs to be kept in the public eye for her to earn money. It's an oddball way of making a living, but celebraties know what needs to be done to earn the money.

This question really has nothing to do with history. Further, the individual being discussed is meaningless with no impact on the real world. What one has to keep in mind is, "Would you want this sick individual to be a role model for your children?" Clearly the answer is no!

The best thing to do is to forget that she exists, and focus on others who actually contribute to society.

Dude, it is exactly like all her "thinkin" -- unoriginal. A lot, and I mean a LOT of people have done that already before. She was thinking "I'll do what everybody else is doing and that'll make me cool."

You are asking the rational of a girl who was photographed 3 times getting out of cars with out panties, danced in her panties at a NY club, is friends with Paris Hilton, drove with her son on her lap and no restraint, and checked into and out of rehab all on the same day.
There is no rhyme or reason for her insane behavior... oh, wait, I think I got it! SHE"S NUTS!

People on the edge of having nervous breakdowns do stupid things like that, partially to get everyone's attention on the problem.

I submit that most of us are guessing at her intentions. Her actions are suggestive on one who is confused possibility with substance abuse problems and not one of a responsible parent. One has to wonder how she will feel if her children copy her actions.
